How to write work experience bullets with measurable results
Turn task lists into stronger CV achievements using action, scope, metrics and outcomes, with examples and a metrics bank.

The work experience section is where recruiters decide whether your claims are real. A strong bullet does not only say what you did. It shows the action, the scope, the metric and the result.

The formula
| Part | Question | Example |
|---|---|---|
| Action | What did you do? | Automated, led, reduced, improved, coordinated, launched |
| Scope | How large or complex was it? | 12-person team, 3 regions, 45 tickets weekly, 15,000 rows |
| Metric | How can it be measured? | %, time, cost, revenue, quality, volume, satisfaction |
| Result | Why did it matter? | Faster reporting, fewer errors, higher retention, lower cost |
Before and after

| Task-only bullet | Achievement bullet |
|---|---|
| Managed reports for the sales team. | Automated weekly sales reporting, cutting preparation time from 4 hours to 45 minutes. |
| Handled customer inquiries. | Resolved 45+ customer inquiries per shift and maintained a 96% satisfaction score. |
| Trained new staff. | Trained 8 new staff using a checklist that reduced onboarding questions during week one by 30%. |
| Worked on inventory. | Reorganized inventory checks and reduced stock-count discrepancies by 22% over two months. |
Metrics bank
If you do not have revenue numbers, use another measurable signal.

| Metric type | Examples |
|---|---|
| Revenue | sales growth, upsell rate, average order value, renewals |
| Efficiency | time saved, cycle time, turnaround time, tickets handled |
| Quality | error rate, rework, defects, compliance issues, audit findings |
| Scale | users, customers, regions, products, stores, records, events |
| Cost | budget saved, waste reduced, vendor cost, overtime |
| People | staff trained, candidates screened, NPS, satisfaction, retention |
How many bullets per role?
Use 3-6 bullets for your most relevant recent roles. Older or less relevant roles can have 1-3 bullets or a short line. Do not give the same amount of space to every job if only one or two are relevant to the target role.
AIResume workflow

FAQ
What if I do not know the exact number?
Use a conservative estimate only when it is honest, or use scope instead: team size, frequency, volume, customer type or project duration.
Can I use the same bullet for every job?
No. Tailor the strongest 3-5 bullets to the target role. Keep the truth, but change the emphasis.
Are action verbs enough?
No. Action verbs help the sentence start strongly, but the result and scope make it credible.
