Chile job board comparison: local portals, tech boards and hiring rules cover image

Chile is not a "one job board" market. A strong search usually combines high-volume Spanish portals, the official Bolsa Nacional de Empleo, LinkedIn, sector-specific tech boards, and direct employer pages for mining, energy, finance, retail and professional services.

What makes Chile different from generic job-board advice

Chile has a relatively formal labour market by regional standards, but applications still vary sharply by sector. Santiago concentrates many corporate, finance, technology and service jobs. Northern regions such as Antofagasta and Tarapaca are stronger for mining, contractors, energy and industrial operations. Retail, hospitality, logistics and sales listings are spread across high-volume portals.

That means the same CV should not be reused everywhere:

  • For Computrabajo or Chiletrabajos, write clear Spanish role keywords, location, schedule availability and salary expectation only where the form asks for it.
  • For LinkedIn or Laborum, align the CV headline with the profile headline and make achievements measurable.
  • For Get on Board, lead with stack, product scope, portfolio, GitHub, English level and remote collaboration.
  • For mining and energy, include safety certifications, shift readiness, site/project location, equipment, compliance and measurable operational results.

Platform-by-platform notes

PlatformBest useWatch-outsHow to tailor the CV
Computrabajo ChileBroad volume, sales, admin, operations, customer service, junior-to-mid rolesDuplicate listings and agency reposts are common; verify the employer before sending sensitive data.Use Spanish job titles, region, availability and 3-4 quantified achievements near the top.
ChiletrabajosLocal and regional openings, SMEs, operations, trades and office jobsSome postings are brief, so do extra company checks.Match the exact Spanish title in the ad and show local availability or relocation readiness.
LaborumProfessional and corporate roles through the Jobint networkForms can push you toward generic profiles.Keep the uploaded CV targeted; do not rely only on the portal profile.
TrabajandoProfessional, university-linked and corporate recruitingStronger for certain employers than for very broad volume.Useful for graduates and experienced professionals with education and credential signals.
BNEOfficial public/private vacancies, employability support, entry routes and formal searchIt is not always the fastest source for specialist private-sector roles.Treat it as a credibility and coverage channel, especially for early career or formal employment search.
Get on BoardTech, startup, product, data and remote LATAM rolesRecruiters expect precise skills, not a generic IT CV.Put stack, seniority, products shipped, metrics, English level and portfolio links in the first screen.
LinkedIn JobsMultinationals, senior roles, referrals and recruiter discoveryA weak profile can cancel out a strong CV.Use the same keywords in profile, headline, About, Experience and uploaded CV.

Local hiring rules and CV privacy

Chile's labour framework affects how a candidate should present information:

  • The Dirección del Trabajo says employers generally have 15 days from the start of work to put the employment contract in writing. This is not something to put on the CV, but it matters when evaluating an offer.
  • Chile's 40-hour law is being implemented gradually: 44 hours from 2024, 42 hours from 26 April 2026, and 40 hours from 2028. When applying for shift, retail, hospitality, mining or operations roles, read working-hour language carefully.
  • Job offers that require irrelevant personal characteristics can be discriminatory. For a modern CV, avoid over-sharing age, marital status, full street address, national ID/RUT, family details or a photo unless the employer has a legitimate and explicit reason.
  • Salary should usually be handled in CLP and in the portal field or recruiter conversation, not as a permanent line in the CV body.

Chile CV localization checklist

CV areaRecommended Chile approachWhy it matters
LanguageSpanish for local roles; English plus Spanish for multinationals, tech and mining suppliersRecruiters screen with local Spanish keywords, but English can be a differentiator.
Document nameCV or currículum vitae"Resume" is understood in tech/global firms, but CV/currículum is more local.
LengthUsually 1-2 pages; senior technical/project CVs can use an appendixChilean recruiters still value scan speed, but sector evidence matters.
Photo and personal dataOptional at most; safer to omit photo, age, marital status and full addressIt reduces bias risk and keeps the CV professional for multinational employers.
EducationHigher education, technical institutes, licenses and certificationsMining, safety, finance, engineering, healthcare and regulated roles care about credentials.
Cover letterUseful for mining/energy, senior roles, relocation, career change and international employersA short carta de presentación can explain why Chile, why the sector, and why you can start.

A 7-day Chile search workflow

  1. Collect 25-40 ads from Computrabajo, Chiletrabajos, Laborum, BNE, Get on Board and LinkedIn.
  2. Split them into role clusters: corporate, sales/operations, tech, mining/energy, public/entry.
  3. Extract repeated Spanish keywords, tools, certifications, contract type, salary range and location.
  4. Build one master CV and at least three variants: local portal, LinkedIn/corporate, specialist sector.
  5. Apply first to verified employer pages or reputable platforms, then to agencies and aggregators.
  6. Use a short cover letter only when it adds context: relocation, sector switch, project fit or language fit.
  7. Follow up in Spanish, keep a tracker, and remove sources that produce duplicates or unclear employers.

FAQ

What is the best job board in Chile?

For broad local volume, start with Computrabajo, Chiletrabajos and Laborum. For official/formal coverage, add BNE. For technology, use Get on Board and LinkedIn. For mining and energy, prioritize employer career pages and recruiters.

Should I include a photo on a Chile CV?

Usually no. A photo may still appear in some local CVs, but it is safer for modern, multinational and anti-bias hiring to omit photo, age, marital status, full address and RUT unless explicitly required later in the process.

Is a cover letter required in Chile?

Not for every portal application. It is useful for professional, mining, energy, relocation, senior or international applications where you need to explain sector fit and availability.
